DJ Rob Boskamp is a dance music fanatic since the day he was born…..growing up on motown, capitol, early soul, r&b and disco makes him to what he is today…..a walking encyclopedia for what dance music is concerned. His career in a nutshell:
Back in the days (1976) he started as a dj in the first real discotheque in Amsterdam, called the 'Lucky Star', from that point on he worked his way through all the hotspots in town. (50/50 club, La Bouteille, Cupfinal, Bistrotheque a.o.) Ending up around 1980 at Decibel Radio, the largest Pirate Radio Station in Holland. His weekly show was listened to by an audience that crossed the million-mark! (followed a little later by the first legal dance radiostation for kids called WAPS). In 1985 he started working for DMC (Disco Mix Club), a worldwide exclusive dj-organisation of which only the best dj's per country were a member. They released albums on a monthly basis with super hot and exclusive remixes of the hit records at that time. By the time that it became the 'summer of love' in 1987, Rob's fame was at an ultimate high in Holland and he played at every club and warehouse that gave house-parties. He's still seen as one of the Dutch godfathers of house.
After cruising around the country for so long, he than decided in 1990 to set up the first real vinyl-wholesale for house music only (boudisque) in Holland, this became an instant succes and he decided to cut back on dj-ing for a while…… In 1992 DJ Rob Boskamp started his own record-company called Fonky Fibe Records with labels like Urban Sound Of Amsterdam, Movin' Melodies, Gyrate and Mighty High Musique to mention only a few. This became a big succes as well with worldwide success by acts like Kadoc, Steve Rachmad, The Scumfrog, Orlando Voorn, Playboy and many others. As you can understand, his love for playing the best tunes to a big audience never faded and when he was able to leave the work of his labels in the capable hands of his partner, he picked up dj'ing again……

After releasing his first mix-cd in 1997 called 'Chemical beats', he quickly regained the lost ground amongst his fellow dj's. By the end of 1998 he turned back to the style which he started of with and still plays up to today, being good club-music! He also got back to radio doing a weekly mix for RuuddeWild.nl on National Radio 3 (BNN-Radio) called Club Flavours. Which he did for 3 years running. In 2003 he is at the point that next to playing every big club in The Netherlands, he started producing as well. The12" DJ Rob Boskamp vs The Soulhustlers ‘rocket 2 you’ was released through the high rated SPINNIN’ Records label and gained great response…The follow up was released in june 2004 and was called 'pela praia' which he made with Exceptional and Tyrah Morena (vs rob boskamp). It's out on Ricciardi Records and received airplay by pete tong and was on every playlist from dj roog to jeroenski....
End 2004 Urban Sound of Amsterdam, rob's oldest label, came back after a 5 years rest with his own release 'pump it'...the reactions were so good, that a deal with essential dance music and later with spinnin records was made to do a 12" and cdsingle...in march (2005) the track made it on to the dancesmash cd and was licensed to over twenty countries and ended up in the dutch national top 50 in may of that year.

The newest single by DJ Rob Boskamp is called ‘in the evening’ and is a cover of the classic 80’s disco tune ‘in the evening’ by Sheryl Lee Ralph resung by Rocq-E-Harrell. For the remixes the help was called in by Rockefeller and Mark Simmons. The tracks are somewhere between discohouse and electrohouse. So far the record is licensed to over 30 countries including the UK (ministry of Sound). Official cdsingle out on april 24th coming through Spinnin Records
